Comp10 x Game Changers: a partnership with an NBA star's apparel brand

Still activethe partnership has continued since the first event, and it began with a co-branded release in Compton
My roleLead for the Game Changers team on the partnership. I helped run the Compton booth at Compton Fest, which was necessary to the partnership. I did not run the festival.

The problem

Game Changers, an apparel brand I marketed, wanted to reach a community and an audience that a new brand cannot buy: the hometown fans of an NBA star. Comp10, the brand of DeMar DeRozan, wanted partners who could make and ship quality co-branded product and show up for the community. The first stage was Compton Fest, the city's first festival of its kind, which his organization helped host.

What I did

  • The partnership. Led the relationship with DeMar DeRozan's organization and the Comp10 brand, and a co-branded Game Changers x Comp10 apparel release.
  • The booth. Helped run the Compton booth on the ground at Compton Fest, a necessary part of the partnership: product, staff, customer flow and the moments with fans, vendors and local students.
  • Beyond clothing. The partnership grew past apparel. I toured Compton High School's new 31-acre campus during construction, with DeMar DeRozan's team and the construction team: the academic building, performing arts center and gymnasium. It showed how a community and its leaders came together so the next generation of students has a modern place to learn, and it is the part of this work I am proudest of.
  • Community focus. The partnership centered on investing in the next generation, which is also why I took it on.

The result

Still active
the partnership with Comp10 is ongoing today

How this was measured: from my own account. It is a continuing relationship, not a one-off event.

Co-branded
a Game Changers x Comp10 apparel release sold at the booth

How this was measured: Sales figures from the shirts are confidential and not shown.

What I am not claiming. The festival's results belong to its organizers, not to me. I helped run one brand's booth. I am not claiming the festival's revenue, attendance or media numbers.

Easter egg

Congratulations. You found it.

Most people read the case studies. You went straight for the footer logo, which tells me you notice details. That is a good habit in a marketer, and a good sign for us working together.

The secret: this whole site was built with AI, directed by me, and it costs $0 to host. My old site's hosting cost $350+ for three years, almost $120 a year, plus about $20 a year for the domain. I still pay for the domain. The hosting is free.
